I am someone’s child.

Jana was only 10 years old when she was thrown into a dungeon in Syria, kidnapped to force her father to turn himself in. Many children were held there; they were beaten, tormented and barely fed. After she was released, they killed her father.

Jana and her mother fled to Jordan and became refugees. Jana’s childhood was forever changed. Jana came to CVT to begin her journey of healing. The family hopes for resettlement to another country, but that process takes years. And, because they are Syrian, they hold no hope for ever reaching U.S. shores.

The refugee crisis is a torture crisis.
