#MeToo

Many survivors of torture are hesitant to report that they’ve endured rape, a humiliating, wounding and frequent weapon of war. The reasons vary. Underreporting is complicated.

Sometimes cultural taboos and social stigma deter our clients from speaking out. Sometimes clients do not consider their experiences worth mentioning.

We don’t always know when and why clients withhold certain aspects of their experiences. But we do know that being able to tell their stories helps survivors heal their wounds. We know that while rape is prevalent, it is NOT acceptable. And we know that there is hope for CVT clients who would say #MeToo.

Stand with us. Take Action. Support survivors and reject torture.
